My Eulogy for my sister

I know that by age, you will get to meet the Lord first.  But I did not expect it would be this much sooner.  I was imagining us getting old, having tea, while watching our grandchildren play, reminiscing our good ol' days. But the Lord has better plans for you, for us.  Maybe He needs all His allies closer, for the coming. Just maybe.

My Eulogy...

It is in everyone's knowledge that our mother past away just last year. And yet, we were sent another challenge come November when my sister was diagnosed with Leukemia. And now this. 3 weeks ago, my greatest realization has come with regards to my sister's condition. We all helped her fight. But we can only do so much, her battle is not ours and her battle has come to an end. Few days ago, the Lord graced her rest to cease her suffering.  She has already served her divine purpose here on earth and as every people has, our stay here on earth has limits, and hers just expired.

Not too many people would understand what I am going through. For some, it is to their mother, father, brother or friends, whom they share their life achievements, struggles, challenges, sweet moments, special events and just the simple everyday, hi, hello, how are you? thing.  But for me, I tell most, if not all, to my sister. We are each other's conscience, confidant, teacher, mentor. We are each other's personal advisor, we talk about each other's personal issues and situations and try to analyze how to go about it. We organize each other's thoughts, weighing pros and cons, before arriving to the best decision we both agreed on.  We are just one call away from comforting each other from challenges of life, love and relationship, etc. She is the twin sister I never had, my best friend, and (as we always joke to each other) the best sister, as if we have other sisters to compare with.

Her passing gives comfort to us, her family, knowing that she is already with our Lord where she no longer feels pain, suffering and discomfort. For a person who has low tolerance for pain, it must have been 10 million times more aggravating for her these past few days of her living. And I am at peace, we all are, because the Lord has ended it sooner than we would have hope for.

But her passing saddens me, for I, we have lost again, someone special that cannot be replaced.  Her passing scares me at one point. Just a feel of her not being physically here, gives me the thought that I'd be navigating life alone. She has guided me through a lot since we were kids up until the last. It is her norm to impart guiding words, not only to me but also to my brothers as well. She has shared a lot to me about life, love, coping, people analysis, even Jehovah. Her mere presence gives me comfort and security that everything will be alright. And from hereon, everything will never be the same.

She has shared herself to many people. And every bit of stories, expressed how good she was to all of them. For some she is an outgoing person, soft-spoken yet showed strong personality that she can expressed herself well, a person who loves working and maintains integrity. She is an intelligent person. But for me, one of the fond memories I would like to retain about her is her fun-gullible moments, that anything you would tell her in a very believable tone, she would almost believe, and say "talaga?" or "di nga?" with her expressive eyes widely opened.  I will terribly miss her. We will all miss her.

For us, her family, we will depend on the grace of the Lord, that He may grant unto us the healing we need. We will try to live each day as she did this past few months of her living, one day at a time, not thinking of the past nor being anxious of the future.

To all of you, I know she would like to say thank you in return for your kindness and the friendship that you all shared with her. And with this song, with her own words and music, let her tell you, how she has treasured all the best moments she had with each one of you. And that we, her friends, families and relatives, most especially to her husband and son, we are all faced to move forward and start a new beginning.
